FAQS

What is Positive Approach to Care®?
Positive Approach to Care® is an internationally recognized dementia education and caregiving philosophy developed by dementia care expert Teepa Snow. It focuses on understanding how the brain changes throughout dementia and teaching caregivers practical techniques that improve communication, reduce distress, and support remaining abilities.

Who should attend these workshops?
Our programs are designed for family caregivers, healthcare professionals, home care providers, senior living communities, hospice organizations, adult day centers, hospitals, rehabilitation providers, and anyone supporting a person living with dementia.

Do I need a dementia diagnosis to benefit from a consultation?
No. Many families seek guidance when they first notice memory changes or are unsure whether behaviors are related to normal aging or dementia. Early education can help families prepare and make informed decisions.

Can workshops be customized for our organization?
Yes. Every organization has different educational goals. Workshops can be customized for healthcare providers, assisted living communities, memory care communities, adult day centers, hospitals, hospice teams, and other professional organizations.

Helping a Senior Living Community Transform Dementia Care

A local senior living organization partnered with Abbie Vogt to provide Positive Approach to Care® training for its caregiving team. Staff learned practical communication techniques, the Positive Physical Approach™, and the GEMS® Brain Change Model to better understand residents' changing abilities.

Following the training, staff reported increased confidence when assisting residents living with dementia, improved teamwork, and more positive interactions during daily care. Families noticed calmer communication, fewer moments of distress, and stronger relationships between residents and caregivers. The organization also experienced greater consistency in person-centered care practices, creating a more supportive environment for both residents and staff.
